The Department of Life Science organized an invited expert lecture under its Value-Added Course on the topic “Agrobiotechnology: Biofertilizers and Biopesticides.” The session aimed to enhance students’ understanding of sustainable agricultural practices and the growing importance of biotechnological innovations in modern farming.
The session began with a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Deepak Vyas, Dean Academics, who emphasized the relevance of agrobiotechnology in achieving sustainable development goals. Ms. Prachi introduced the guest and presented his professional profile to the audience.
The event was graced by Dr. Pramod Mehta, Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology, and Dr. Umesh Garu, Head, Department of Life Science, who extended a warm welcome to the guest and presented a memento, shawl, and university diary as a token of appreciation.
The invited expert for the session was Mr. Ankit Dhakad, Founder and CEO of Kishan Mitra Biotech, Indrapura, Bijoliya, Bhilwara, Rajasthan. Mr. Dhakad delivered an insightful lecture focusing on the production and application of biopesticides and also briefed the audience about various types, uses, and benefits of biofertilizers in promoting soil health and crop productivity. His practical insights and field-based experiences provided valuable knowledge to the participants about eco-friendly agricultural technologies.
At the end of the session, Dr. Ramgopal Dhakar delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the Department of Life Science, expressing gratitude to the guest, dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their active participation. Mr. Pankaj Kumar Teli efficiently managed all the documentation and coordination work, ensuring the smooth conduction of the event.
A total of 56 students from various departments Pharmacy, Paramedical, Agriculture,and Life Science attended the session and actively interacted with the expert. The lecture proved to be highly informative and beneficial, enriching the students’ understanding of the practical applications of biotechnology in sustainable agriculture.
