On 23rd August 2025, Faculty of Legal Studies, Mewar University, Chittorgarh, organized a special guest lecture on “BNS Vs IPC: Comparative Analysis”. The esteemed speaker of the session was Justice Shri Chandra Shekhar Pareek ACJM, Bikaner.
Hona’ble Vice Chancellor of Mewar University Dr. Alok Mishra welcomed the esteemed guest speaker by presenting him with a token of gratitude.
Justice Pareek, was kind enough to come up to the campus and deliver the lecture. He shared his wisdom with law students by emphasizing on the modernization of BNS, in his lecture Justice Pareek highlighted the on introduction of new criminal provisions. Key areas of discussion included the elimination of outdated provisions, the consolidation of definitions, the introduction of new offenses like terrorism, and the restructuring of existing ones to improve clarity and address new criminal behaviors. The lecture highlighted the overarching goal of the BNS to create a more comprehensive and effective criminal justice system. After he was done with the lecture he opened the house for questions and he answered all the different queries raised by the students chronologically. Throughout the lecture there was heavy interaction between the students and the guest speaker, there was active participation all through.
The session was concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Geetanjali Sharma, HoD, Faculty of Legal Studies, Mewar University.
The other faculty members of Faculty of Legal Studies namely Mr. Ambuj Mishra, Mr. Eshan Singhal, Mr. Pradyumn Sharma and Mr. Nitin Tripathi also attend the lecture.
Faculty members from other Departments of Mewar University were also present during the lecture.
