To create- green cover, eco-friendly atmosphere, pure oxygen at the university campus, plantation program is organized every year involving all students, administration, and all departments faculty members.
During this session on the eve of Ozone day, a plantation program was organized under the proper guidance of Dean Agriculture Dr. Arvind Singh, OSD Shri H. Vidhani, and Hon’ble Chairperson of the University. Similarly, One Student One Tree program has been initiated by Department of Forestry, Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences at Mewar University under the initiative project entitled “Each One, Plant One/ One Student, One Tree” in the line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s idea of a green and healthy environment.
On the eve of Earth Day a plantation program was organized under the leadership of District Collector, Chittorgarh and Hon’ble Chairperson of the University and about 100 ornamental, avenue, medicinal rare and beautiful trees were planted in Herbal garden and other parts of University campus. To keep the greeneries in the campus, plants are regularly looked after by paid staff under the guidance of garden committee members. Moreover, the introduction of new plants species is a regular practice in the university.
Herbal and botanical gardens have established wherein several medicinal and ornamental plants are being introduced. The university is maintaining several herbs of medicinal importance in the herbal garden. Mention may be made about species Terminalia, Asperagus, Citronella, Serpentine etc.
There are several medicinal plants occurring wild in the University campus. Faculty members of the botany & Forestry departments are helping the students in identification of the plants under cultivation as well the wild ones. The University campus is rich in wild and cultivated flora. The faculty member of the botany & Forestry department audited and identified of various plant species with the help of flora of BSI as well as other standard literature. Extension programs also organized to create environment awareness and conservation of biodiversity amongst the students. There are several huge lawns which further add to the greenery of the campus.
