Mewar University pays homage to Guru Govind Singh on his Jayanti

Chittorgarh: Guru Govind Singh Jayanti was celebrated at lecture hall of Mewar University in the presence of ourhonorable, Dr. R. K. Paliwal, Dean (Basic Science) and S. Durga Prasad, Dean (Management) on 07th Jan 2014. The whole event was managed by the Department of Agriculture, Mewar University.

 

The Program started with the lighting of lamp and garlanding of the portrait of Shri guru Govind Singh. Dr. R.K Paliwal dwelt upon the life and teachings of Shri Guru Govind Singh. He mentioned the monumental role played by the 10th Sikh Guru in the development of Sikh faith. Dr. R.K Paliwal quoted Guru’s inspiring words as an appropriate message for today’s worldand told he was a religious teacher who had a huge impact on the society. In his lifetime, he stood against the Mughal Rulers and fought against injustice. He mentioned the sacrifices made by the 10th Guru for his religion and country. In 1699, Guru Gobind Singh took five men from the lower caste of society and baptized them as His Five Beloveds, endowing them with great courage and a devotion to God. Dean (Management)also shared his thoughts on the 10thSikh Guru and said that theawakening of youth is needed if we want our nation to grow in every field.

 

Mr. Kawaljeet from CS department discussed the life of Guru Govind Singh. He also told about the five essential things that a Sikh should follow - Kesh, Kanga, Kacha, Kara, and Kirpan. Students from B.Sc (Agriculture) & Forestry also organized a quiz on the life and teachings of Guru Govind Singh. Furthermore, Panjabi Dance was performed by Mr. Jahangir Tariq of B.Sc (Forestry) student. In addition, Mr. Vipin, B.Sc (Forestry) student, sang devotional songs during the procession and Mr. Kawaljeet from CS departmentshares sweets and a cold drink or a sharbat among the university faculty and students. Mr.Abhishek student of B.Com and Mr. Basharat Ahmed, a student of B.Sc. (Forestry), also put forth their ideas on Guru Gobind Singh in their anchoring speech. The celebration was concluded with the Vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, HOD Department Agriculture & Forestry.
