Swami Vivekananda’s 150th Birth Anniversary was celebrated on 12th January,2014 in the Seminar Hall of Mewar University under the august presence of Hon’ble Chairperson Dr. (CA) Ashok Kumar Gadiya. The faculty, staff and students attended the function. It was a full-packed hall, and there was great enthusiasm amongst the participants to pay their tribute to the youth icon, reformist and nationalist, who sacrificed his life for humanity and motherland. Prof P.K. Jain, Director of the faculty of Management Studies at Mohanlal Sukhadiya University, Udaipur was the Guest of Honor.
The function started with lighting of the lamp by Hon’ble Chairperson, Dr Ashok Kumar Gadiya Deans, Directors and OSD of the University. The formal program started with Sarswati Vandana. A documentary prepared on the life, mission and works of Swami Vivekananda was shown. There were songs, poetry and drama on the life of Swami Vivekananda by students.
Guest of Honor Prof P.K.Jain also spoke on the occasion and said that the ideals and teachings of Swami Vivekananda are more relevant today as the country is facing lot of problems for the division of society on the basis of caste, color, creed and religion. Swami Vivekananda always preached that there is only one God and we all are the children of God. It is the human-being that has given many names to the God as per his religion belief. All religions teach us about brotherhood and love for all human being. Prof Jain said that right tribute to this great hero will be to follow his ideals.
Dean, Management, Dr S. Durgaaprosad spoke in detail about the life, childhood and message of Swami Vivekananda. Hon’ble Chairperson called upon the students and the faculty to follow the ideals and lessons of Swami Vivekananda to make the society a better place to live in. Swami Vivekananda always preached to the youth of the country to be fearless, be your own hero, and take the risk and be committed to your goal. Hon’ble Chairperson further said that though the country has made a lot of progress after independence, still lot of efforts are required to brake the ice of society divided on caste and religion basis. He called upon all the participants to wake up and make it their goal that whatever they do in their daily life, it will be for the betterment of mankind and motherland.
The function ended with the singing of national anthem.
