Chittorgarh: Mewar University witnessed a grand celebration of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, which fall on 2nd October every year. The Department of Pharmacy took the lead in organizing various events to mark Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jyanti. The Jayantis remind us of the lofty principles and ideals held by eminent personalities of India. Their lives, though simple, inspire millions.

It was 146th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi whose principles of non-violence assume greater significance in today’s world torn by conflicts. Lal Bahadur Shastri’s slogan “Jay Jawan, Jai Kisan” remains popular and relevant for our nation even today.

The program started with the singing of a patriotic group song by Peerzada Sohail and Mudassir Ahmed, which brought a new vigor to the people gathered on the occasion.

Jayesh Gadiya made a brilliant speech on the life and role of Mahatma Gandhi. He highlighted the contribution made by Mahatma Gandhi to the freedom movement who followed principles of non-violence and showed a new path to the whole world. The Independence movement against the British rule under his leadership broke new ground in civil disobedience that has been admired and emulated by great leaders like Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela.

Hilal presented a poem based on an incident in chemistry lab, which covered various aspects of Chemistry Lab and brought smiles on the faces of the people in the audience.

Sajjad and Noorani presented a very elegant dance, which was based on a song of Laddakh. The audience was in rapture while watching such a unique dance performance.

Pharmacy students presented a mime,which was hilarious yet brilliantly synchronized by the students. It received roaring applause from the audience.

After this, a group dance was performed on a patriotic song by Sangeeta & group. The trio dazzled the audience with their charming performance.

The stage was then taken over by Javed Ahmad Ganie who presented a poem written by him. The audience was enthralled by the emotions so beautifully expressed in the poem.

Sajjad Hussain sang a solo song, and he was supported by guitarist, Imdanglemba. It was a delightful performance by the duo. It was then followed with a group song sung by Ashwini Group. Their performance was wonderful depicting their love for Bapu.

Subsequently, there was an energetic Punjabi Dance Performance by Gurvinder Group, which was nicely choreographed and performed by the students.

The show concluded with a motivating speech delivered by honorable Dean Shri R.K.Paliwal. He shared his valuable thoughts with the audience, concluding the program on an inspirational note.
