Chittorgarh: Teachers’ Day was celebrated with traditional fervor and gaiety on the 5th of September, 2015 by Mewar University. Teachers’ Day marks the birth anniversary of our former President and eminent scholar Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakhrishnan.

Teachers' Day is a special day to recognize the services rendered by teachers, and to honor them for their special contributions made in a particular field of education. The day is also meant to felicitate the teachers‘  efforts in earnest towards making their students future bright.

The function was organized by Computer Science Department and started with the lighting of the lamp. The chanting of Saraswati Vandana filled the atmosphere with a sense of devotion and spirituality, ideal for an educational institution.

Dr Ashok Kumar Gadiya, Chairperson, Mewar University, said that this is the day to renew our pledge to provide education to the deprived sections of our society about which nobody seems to be genuinely interested. He added that it is a matter of pride that 75% of our students come from the neglected sections of the society.

A glowing tribute was paid to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan through a video on his life and contribution. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. R.K Paliwal, Dean, Basic Sciences, Mewar University, highlighted the role of ancient teachers and their contribution to Indian Society.

Subsequently, a cultural function was organized by the students of Computer Science department. A Song “Hum Rahe Ya NA Rahe Kal” was Sung by Govind & Group, students of Computer Science Department. A skit was presented by Atul & Group on the topic “Technology cannot replace the place of a teacher in students’ life”. Further, a dance was performed by Rakesh & Group. Brijesh & Group organized a game for all teachers, called “TASKO”, and every teacher who participated in the game received a gift.
