Workshop on Role of Indian Languages in Science & Technical Education concludes at MU

Chittorgarh:A two day National Workshop on “Role of Indian Language in Science & Technical Education” was inaugurated atMewar University on February 28, 2015, with the customary ritual of lighting the lamp and chanting of Saraswati Vandana. The inauguration of the workshop on 28 February coincided with the National Science Day in India, which is celebrated in India to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman.

Prof. M. L. Kalra, former Vice Chancellor of Kota University, was the Chief Guest who was felicitated by Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya, Chancellor, Mewar University and Shri Govind Lal Ji Gadiya, Secretary, Mewar Education Society in true Mewari tradition of honoring with Mewari Pagdi and a memento.

Similarly, the Guest of Honor Prof. R. B. Kasetwar was welcomed by Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya, Chancellor, Mewar University and Shri Govind Lal Ji Gadiya, Secretary, Mewar Education Society in the same Mewari style.

The workshop’s focus was on the usage of scientific and technical terminology with the support of the Commission for Scientific & Technical Terminology (CSTT), which falls under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD)

Prof. M. L. Kalraspoke on the contribution made by the CSTT towards the usage of Indian languages in science and technology. He stressed on the significance of having a proper understanding of terminology used in teaching Science &Technology across India and the need of its uniformity.

Later, the Guest of Honor Prof. R. B. Kasetwar in his speech underscored the importance and role of Indian languages in the dissemination of Scientific & Technical education in India. He laid emphasis on the quality of higher education and the role of Hindi in it.

Before the conclusion of inaugural function Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya, Chancellor, Mewar University said that only those countries are developed countries today, which  adopted their national languages for Science, Technology and Education.

Technical Session 1:

Our Key Note Speaker Prof. M. L. Kalra gave a presentation on “Role of Sanskrit and Regional Language in Science and Technology” wherein he discussed the role of language in teaching Science & Technology in a multilingual country like India.

The presentation was followed by the lecture of Prof. V K Vaidya, Dr. Chetan Anand, and Mr. S K Das.

The Vote of thanks was given by Prof . R. K. Paliwal, Dean, Basic Sciences, Mewar University.

Technical Session 2:

Technical session 2 started with the Lecture of Prof. R. B. Kasetwar. After Lunch break the next lecture was delivered by Mr. Shashank Diwedi who underlined the importance of Hindi Language in Indian Society. After that the next lecture was given by Dr. Satpal Arora.

The last lecture of the workshop was delivered by Er. M L Meena who spoke on the usage of Indian Languages in Science and Technical Education. He also talked about how we can implement and promote Hindi Language in Science and Technical Education.

The Workshop ended with the distribution of certificates. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. R. K. Paliwal, Dean, Basic Sciences, Mewar University.
