Chittorgarh:  In order to sensitize students and the academic community to the menace of ragging that raises its ugly head in our society from time to time, a seminar was organized by Talluka Vidhik Sewa Pradhikaran, Gangrar, on August 7, 2014 in the campus of Mewar University. The seminar was meant to highlight the penal provisions associated with Ragging and make the new students aware of them.

In the beginning of the seminar, the chief guest Mr. P.K. Kala, RJS Civil judge and judicial magistrate civil court, Gangrar was welcomed by the OSD Mr. H. Widhani of Mewar University. Mr. P.K. Kala threw light on the penal provisions related to acts of ragging committed in Universities and Colleges. He emphasized that ragging is a crime as per the Hon. High Court’s and Supreme court’s latest judgments. In case an FIR is lodged against a student in this matter, then his/her career is ruined. Hence, both the parties should be well aware of these legal provisions.

Mr. P.K. Kala also threw light on the provisions of the Motor-Vehicle act and stressed that the insurance of vehicles is a mandatory provision, which all of us should abide by, as it helps us in case of an accident. He also informed students about the provisions relating to Cyber Crime.

The seminar ended with a vote of thanks by Dean Dr. R.K. Paliwal. The members of Anti-Ragging Committee were also present in the seminar.
