Chittorgarh: “National Education Day” was celebrated at Mewar University on 11.11.2014 in Maharana Pratap Seminar Hall at 4:00 PM. The celebration started with the lighting of lamp by all dignitaries. “National Education Day” is observed in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first education minister of independent India, who served the nation from 15 August 1947 tol 2 February 1958. This Day is celebrated on 11 November every year all over in India.
Abul Kalam Muhiyuddin Ahmed Azad (11 November 1888 – 22 February 1958) was an eminent educationist, a senior political leader of the Indian independence movement and a freedom fighter of great repute. Following India's independence, he became the first Minister of Education in the Indian government. In 1992, he was posthumously awarded India's highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna for his contribution in the field of education.
The Celebration was followed by a presentation made by a student who highlighted the early life of Maulana Abul kalam Azad. Based on this theme, a Quiz contest was also organized for all faculty members present in the seminar hall.
A brief speech was made by Dr. R.K. Paliwal (Dean, Basic Sciences, Mewar University). The speech focused on the contribution of Maulana Azad to the Indian Freedom Movement along with his positive role mainly during the whole Stayagarh Phase.
The celebration ended with the singing of National Anthem.
