Mewar University celebrates Teacher’s Day, pays tribute to Dr. Radhakhrishnan

Chittorgarh: Teacher’s Day was celebrated with traditional fervor on the 5th of September, 2013 in the premises of Mewar University. Teacher’s Day marks the birth anniversary of our former President and eminent scholar Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakhrishnan. This year the Physics Department took the lead to organize the Teacher’s day celebration. The function began with the lighting of the lamp by Shri. Govind Ji Gadiya, Secretary MES and Member, BOM of the University, Shri. C R Choudhary, Hon’ble Pro-President, Shri R K Paliwal, Hon’ble Dean (Basic Sciences) and Shri Dinesh Khurana, Hon’ble Dean (Management).

The chanting of Saraswati Vandana filled the atmosphere with and a sense of devotion and spirituality, ideal for an educational institution. Saraswati Vandana was followed by the welcome address of Shri. R K Paliwal, Hon’ble Dean, Basic Sciences. While welcoming the dignitaries, teachers and students at the gathering, he described in detail the life and teachings of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakhrishnan and how the youth of today must take inspiration from him. A variety of entertainment programs like songs, poetry, dance etc. were presented by the students of the University.

Dr. Harish Nagar, Director Diploma recited a poem, highlighting the immensely significant role played by teachers in shaping the lives of the pupil. Dr. Dinesh Khurana, Dean (Management) spoke about the expectations from a teacher and how a teacher should contribute to the uplift the students and society at large. He added that teachers must take the responsibility of educating students  academically as well as morally to produce better citizens.

Shri. C R Choudhary, Hon’ble Pro-President and Shri. H Widhani, OSD also congratulated the teachers on the day and acknowledged their contribution to society. They said that teachers are fountainhead of inspiration for the coming generation; they need to be the torchbearers for the society in general and students in particular.

A quiz competition based on the life of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakhrishnan was also organized. Prizes were given away to winners after the results were declared. The celebrations ended with tea and snacks for all the participants.
